Part 1: Nominalization — Turning Verbs into Nouns
Nominalization is the process of converting a verb or verb phrase into a noun. In Japanese, this allows you to talk about actions and things related to actions as if they were objects or concepts.
There are two main nominalizers in Japanese, each with a distinct nuance:
